The technical review committee provides advice and recommendations to the Ministry of Education on changes to the method used to allocate funds for public education to school boards based on the terms of reference provided to the committee.  The focus of the committee is strictly on the allocation system – its mandate does not extend into discussions about whether or not there is sufficient funding.


This Committee consisted of representatives from the following stakeholder organizations:

• BC Association of School Business Officials
• BC Superintendents Association
• Ministry of Education

Based on the work of this committee a report was prepared by December, 2002 and a number of the recommendations were used in the funding changes announced in March, 2003.

The BCASBO representatives on the committee are:

• Greg Frank, SD41 (Burnaby)
• Sterling Olsen, SD91 (Nachako Lakes)
• Flavia Maller, SD39, (Vancouver)
